The King of South African Hip hop...

Is Aka SA's King of Rap?

He came into the industry as a member of an upcoming group named “Entity” which unfortunately didn't make it to far in the music industry. But our boy AKA didn't let any of that disappointments stop him from pursuing a solo career and self proclaim himself as the KING of SA hip hop.

I wont lie and say that the dude is not good because he shuts down all award shows and he even performs his lungs out when he is booked for an event. But I want to get into how this gem rose so quickly to fame, I mean the first time I got introduced to his music was when he released "Victory Lap" and it surely got a lot of people dancing but just right after that he became a star when he released his first album which did well but his Recent album is on fire.

Tracks like “All Eyes On Me”  and “Run Jozi” make this album totally worth a listen.  I just want to talk about the amazing African collaborations he has done this year, I have to admit that he is a start and whether you love him or hate him you simply just cant ignore this talent, he commands attention wherever he goes and he is easily South Africa’s best artist.

This "Doro King" has had amazing moments but I cant help but notice that he is so drawn into negativity, especially when it comes to fellow musicians.  If we all remember correctly, when he was blowing up he had a huge beef with L-Tido who is also another hip hop artist, accusing him of being an American wannabe.

It dragged for months but they initially squashed it, but it was not long till he fell into yet another beef with another rapstar who became huge in 2013, no one in this entire continent can explain what the beef was about but it also dragged for so long leading them into even releasing songs about it. Casper had a go at AKA in his song Phumakim when he sarcastically said “AKA’S favorite rapper, I guess I made it on the Forbes list”.

Thankfully the beef got squashed last year December but something tells me that these two still cant stand each other.  However it’s a sure thing that this negativity never stops our Doro king for achieving major things and I love him because he never lets negativity get in his way of being the main man. His arrogance and "major like" personality makes him different and it makes him a very interesting person to follow in the music scene. It is safe to say AKA has made his mark and he will continue ruling.
